I had the lift cover off my 3400 to clean out the sump, replace filters, and do other repairs. Now that it is back together the lift doesn't seem to work until the quadrant control lever reaches near the top of its travel. I think I may have damaged the "flow control valve override linkage" when reinstalling the lift cover. The manual says to put a steel rule in the slot in the cam follower when lowering the cover to avoid damage to the linkage. I do not remember doing this. I do remember (this was weeks ago) that the cover was not balanced perfectly from my shop crane so it didn't go down nice and level at first. From reading oher posts it sounds like my symptoms of the lever not working to lift until near the top of the quadrant are consistent with a worn cam follower. Are they also consistent with a damaged linkage from improper installation of the lift cover? Seems like a worn (shortened) cam follower would act similar to a bent linkage. Also, if I damaged my linkage, is it as simple as straightening some bent steel or did I likely break something? :?
