Yes you need a puller to get get off. You can usually rent one from a parts store.

Take the big bolt out the center and then install the bolt without the washer to protect the threads in the end of the crank.

What sort of engine is that? Funny to see a damper at the starter drive?

It is a Covair aircraft motor that the owner added a flexplate (flywheel) and starter off a Nissan Sentra to the front of the motor to make it electric start. The prop is on the back end of the motor.

I own 2 of those and both cost me less then $10 each. Have had one of them for a couple decades and got the newer one just a few years ago and still cost about the same.
