Threaded front axle pivot pin removal

I am working a on a late 2000 3-cylinder with the 2" diameter threaded pivot pin. Trying to remove it. I have been soaking it with penetrating oil, heating the casting, and have been pushing ice cubes in the pin hole after everything is hot. Pin does not budge. Are there any other tricks before I cut the pin into pieces? Thanks

For one successful method to remove this pin, do an internet search for:

"Ford 3000 Front Axle Pivot Pin Froze In Place"

It is on external_link. I have been putting off this project on my 3600 because I know it ain"t going to be fun..

If you've been using an acetylene torch with no results so far, I'd quit wasting time on it, and cut the pin in half with the torch. Once the axle is out of the way, I'd carefully cut out what's left with the torch. If you're good, you won't damage the casting.

I had the same problem with my 2000. We use a 1" drive socket an strong arm wrench (rented that) with a 5 foot cheater pipe over the top. Heat it up, put two people on the cheater, and it finally moved. all you need is just a small movement, and you will win.
