A 6V EI will work at 4.5V no problem.... This does not mean I am push'n EI set ups on 6V guys what ever works for ya is good enuff for me... To answer his question If I were in doubt I would use a 6V coil with the proper resistor I can not see were he could go wrong...
I make this statement """ A EI set up suffers form the same issues a points set up suffers from""" Its hard to prove that statement wrong,,, a points guy with any experience trouble shooting can diagnose a simple EI set up once he gets over the skeer factor...
On a 12V EI with a 6V coil,,,,2 separate power feeds are not needed,,, feed the EI off the power source side at the resistor and feed the coil threw the resistor...
Y'all have a Merry Christmas
