1972 4500 3cyl diesel 4spd power reversing transmission TLB with a cab.Tractor will not go in reverse.Did this once before, then was fine for a few wks.New 134D & filter. With idle slow, tractor shifts into forward & neutral fine.Guessing the blocker valve is sticking.Removing the cab, fuel tank & steering column is alot of work.Anything I can try before I get into this? Thank You. |

| | This is odd. Forward but no reverse. Mine does this (no F or R) often when the fluid is cold. I usually hold slight pressure on the lever while curling the front bucket. Usually goes in just before the engine wants to stall. No issue after it warms up. Check the linkage as it goes into the bell housing. Mine was held by a cross bolt but there was no slot in the arm to tighten it on the rod. Added a slot and it has been tight ever since. Just a guess. Jim |

| Thanks for the reply Jim.I did check the linkage at the bellhousing & disconnected the yoke pin & shifted the tractor there.Same result: F&N no reverse. It did this once a few wks ago.I changed the oil & filter thinking a contamination problem.Started the tractor, let it run for a few minutes,re-checked oil level & the transmission shifted fine.Used it for a few hrs,no problems.Parked it inside for 2wks- no reverse! |
