Good info Craig.
Adds to the knowledge here that can be found in the archives if someone is searching.
Is this for the 6X4 which was common in the 3400?

I'm pretty sure that the 6x4 and the rarer 4x4 manual reversing transmissions both use that same bearing. Of course, the 4x4 auto reverser is a completely different animal.

ULTRADOG, Mine is the 4x4 manual reverser and I'm not sure about the 6x4 but I bet it's the same. I'd have to take a look at the parts listing for the 6x4 though to make sure. I know partsspring web site lists at least 10 models that used it when I was looking for a replacement. I still have to get a picture of that new/alternate bearing posted this next week.

The reason that I say that I'm pretty sure that they're the same is that the New Holland parts site only lists parts for one "manual reversing" transmission for the '65-'75 thousand series tractors, and it doesn't specify whether it's the 6x4 or 4x4, so I assume that they're identical except that the 4x4 doesn't have the extra forward gear in each range.

I just looked at it closer, and it appears that possibly the manual reverser was a 4x4 from 1/1/65 - 3/31/68, and it was a 6x4 from 4/1/68 and up. The part labelled "32" in the picture of the gears is listed twice. Once as:

Gear Assy., 2nd & 4th Speed, 32T, No Longer Serviced., Years: 01/01/1965-03/31/1968

and also as:

Gear Assy., 2nd & 5th Speed, 35T, Start Year: 04/01/1968

So if the same gear is used for 2nd & 4th in one date range and 2nd & 5th for the other date range, it stands to reason that they changed the manual reversing transmission from a 4x4 to a 6x4 at that changeover date.

Sean, I believe you ae right once again. Yea now I see there is only one breakdown for the reversing transmissions. All you have to do is decipher exactly your or in my case my 3400's date of mfg. Mine was January 1968 so I have the 4x4 with the 15 spline shaft/22 teeth. There is also the change dates for when they changed over to the 10 spline shaft whcih uses the other bearing listed under item 5.

I finally got the picture of the alternate bearing (NA 4950) and I'll post it back in the original thread so all the information is there.
