If that is the case, then the plug you mention is on the pump output. OK to take it out and use a good sealant on threads, but teflon tape is not recommended, at least by many, since it is so easy to introduce slivers of it into the hydraulic flow circuits, where it can cause malfunctions.

The plug in question is probably where the clear hose is connected on this piston pump.

thanks guys the clear hose here is the place im talking about on mine and this is the same pump on this tractor i have, so im confused now as to what the original is, as these arnt what is pictured inthe owners manuel i have for this tractor, is this pump the original, or is this the replacement style? i'll use something else other than Teflon to reseal, the plug is tight now, already tried to tighten that

it's a cheap tapered plug.. get a new one. i reccomend a brass square headed one.. that and some gasola, or harveys thread dope. a CI plug will work as well.

that is a repalcement piston pump.. it is cylindrical.. the oem pump was a squareish vane pump.
