I'm not familiar with the 3-cyl models and how the tank and filler cap are situated, but you may be able to do what you suggested with a siphon tube. I have taken a long rod and lashed the tube to it with twist ties (gently, don't crush the tubing) and allow the tube to extend just past the end of the rod. Then, with a bright flash light hold the rod down in the fuel and start the siphon while you have the discharge end of the siphon positioned in a fuel can with a funnel with a screen. Once started, you can move the tube around in the tank like a vacuum sweeper hose. If you can see the "crap" you might be able to suck it up. Worth a try. If your funnel has a screen you can see what crap you pick up and you can re-use the fuel. Good luck! -Will
