Ford Script

I am at the end of my 960 refurbishment. How was
the script lettering originally done on the fenders
and hood. I assume it was either hand painted or
sprayed with a template. Any tips on how to
replicate the lettering?

Hey Paul; this subject has been discussed many time over the years. You'll find numerous threads here and on the Paint and Bodywork forum. There are several ways to do it. It has been suggested that the factory used a roller. You can buy and ink roller from a craft store. Some have had success with this. You can buy a mask and then spray. You can create a mask by using vinyl pin stripping tape from an auto paint store. You can paint the script first and then apply a covering mask and then paint the grey. Or, you can paint it by hand. A good sign painter would do it for you.

There are stencils available to paint them on.
I have heard of guys just wrapping a T-shirt around a 2x4,
soaking it in paint and dabbing it on.
I know people who have had good luck hand painting them.
As for the original method, I don't know. Sorry.
I'd love to see pictures of how it turns out!

N Complete in Wilkenson Indina has them available in vinyl all ready cut out.
