$5K is reaching the upper limit on these things. It had better be pretty nice for that and either have PS, a rebuilt engine plus live PTO and pretty good tires. Can you post the pictures? Or email me and I will post the photos. We like to pick apart the wares of other sellers here and will help you if we can. |

| Loader tractors go for more... up to 3k more...
look for worn out spindles, tierod ends, axle pivot, loose front wheel bearing.
Look at tranny and stick wear.. clutch and starting, running smooth, no bad smoke from a gasser,,, blow by etc.
power steering cyl leaking, worn steering box.
I have bought many of 3000 and 730 loader and put up to $3000 in them to bring them back to perfect. Then used them for a while and sold them for 7 to 7,500. One was really bad, and it cost me.. the rest were much better and cost me less. But.. when you get them "good" the can stay good for many many years of service. a 3400 or 3500 can be better but also may not have the right tranny and pto with 3point. Parts are pleniful for the 3000 ag version.
DO NOT buy a 4 speed... and think before you buy a 6 speed. I dont buy shuttles either but they can be good, just all that I come across are bad.
live pto is really a plus.. and power steering is all but manditory, however you can add power steering in serveral different ways, pending on the type of loader.
Flat top fords were made in 3 factorys and sold world wide, so are really good tractors as to parts, and about the best as to general performance with very few exceptions. |
