Finished the 800 mutt today and I drove it around the yard. The diesel motor ran really smooth and the 5speed worked snug. It was the first time I have driven one with live pto. I apologize for calling it a 860-D when it is just an old tractor we fixed like we wanted. Ron |

| Hey Scott, Here is the last picture I took, this was midday Friday. No one seem to have any interest in what we were doing so I did not take a picture when we were finished. I will post one tomorrow. Don't you have a 4000 like this one? Ron |

| RB, I’ve got a 59 971 that I use around the place here. I love to mow with the SOS trans, it really works well. We had a 55 860 on our farm when I was growing up, and we used it for most jobs. Dad loved it. Looking over the hood of my 971 took me right back there. Where are you located? Scott |

| I live in Charleston and grew up on Edisto Island. Dad's first tractor was an 850. I remember how proud He was when he drove it into the yard. Later he put a loader on it and he started doing more and more construction work. He finally quit farming and moved us to town. They sold the family farm a few years ago. My Brothers and I bought 100 acres near where Mom and Dad live now near Reevesville. We have tractors of another color that we use to do the farm work the Fords do the gardening around our houses and if they are good we let them go to the farm and play. I have never driven a tractor with an SOS but it sounds like fun.Where do you live? Ron |

| SOS is the cat's meow! I never liked the 5 speeds. If one wasn't careful it was too easy to get a clutch pedal in the shin. Plus they were too slow on the road. I haven't had a 5 speed on the place for probably thrity years, but I have five operating SOS tractors. Three of them are from the 5 speed era. All of them are diesels except for my '63 4000.
The OP will enjoy the diesel engine. It will be a fuel sipper compared to a like equipped 800 with a gasoline engine. |

If it runs good and does what you want it to, "It's all good"!
