We almost finished (Need to fix a few leaks)the now 860-D. Now we are going to work on a 641 we traded for that has a bad engine. I have a trans that came out of a 961 I parted out and we are going to use the engine that we took out of the 850.
I guess Yall are wondering why would go to all that Trouble to change transmissions. The 4speeds just don't go slow enough and I want lpto if I am going to keep it. Will post pictures.

That is a lot of work to go through to get slower ground speed. Are you using a tiller? Anyway, nice work, i don't know if i would be that ambitious. Are you going to keep both tractors? -Will

No tilling mostly bush hogging in heavy stuff and need to go slow. changing the trans is easy once we have the engine out. And I do intend to keep it. I appreciate your interest.

If it has a 8XX engine and a 9XX trans is it really a 6XX tractor any more.

And for the other one I give it a year and you will come asking a question about your 860-D and some poster who does not even know the fix to your problem will have to say something about they did not put diesel motors in the 800 tractors just to put his 2 cents in.

Hey John, I built the diesel out of spare parts laying around and the lpto trans we bought in Georgia with another tractor. The 641 is a nice tractor I thought we would fix and keep, and sell a couple of others we have. Hope all is well down your way.

Is the 961 transmission identical to the 861? I ask because the row crop's final drives add an additional gear reduction. I've always assumed the difference is made up in the ring and pinion, but didn't know for certain.

At any rate, good luck with your frankentractor.
