i have 1964 2000 sos utility 4 cylinder. a 4000 5 sped 4 cylinder is coming up at auction later in mouth, has rod, out hole in block. will a 2000 motor fit in a 4000 tractor? if not 2000 will be for sale.

| yes they will swap.. but if the 4000 goes cheap enough.. see if you can find a spare engine out of anything naa-64 to slap in it.. the utility, if running may be too nice to chop

Sell the SOS (if you must :roll:), but please don't pull the power plant out of a working tractor to toss the rest. I would think you would like the extra horse of the 172 to boot.

| | Engines will swap out.The difference will be in the horsepower as the 2000 has a smaller engine. HTH Vito

| You'll be about 15 HP short but yes, it should interchange bolt for bolt. Just make sure the flywheels and clutch assemblly's go back with the transmissions they came from orginally.
