i have 1964 2000 sos utility 4 cylinder. a 4000 5 sped 4 cylinder is coming up at auction later in mouth, has rod, out hole in block. will a 2000 motor fit in a 4000 tractor? if not 2000 will be for sale.

yes they will swap.. but if the 4000 goes cheap enough.. see if you can find a spare engine out of anything naa-64 to slap in it.. the utility, if running may be too nice to chop

Gene,

Sell the SOS (if you must :roll:), but please don't pull the power plant out of a working tractor to toss the rest. I would think you would like the extra horse of the 172 to boot.

Engines will swap out.The difference will be in the horsepower as the 2000 has a smaller engine.

You'll be about 15 HP short but yes, it should interchange bolt for bolt. Just make sure the flywheels and clutch assemblly's go back with the transmissions they came from orginally.
