Power steering turns wheels left (535)

On my '77 Ford 535 TLB, when I pop the front wheels off the ground by using the loader, the wheels turn all the way to the left, with the steering wheel spinning counter-clockwise as well. When I'm driving, I need to tug the steering wheel a little bit clockwise to keep going straight. It's not difficult, just annoying. I assume there's an adjustment for this, but don't know what/where it is. The power steering pump was rebuilt last year. This problem was present both before and after. Can someone advise? Thank you.

The power steering cylinder itself has the control valve built into one end of it. There is an external linkage connected to the cylinder that reacts when you try to steer in one direction or the other that in turn moves the control valve inside the cylinder housing to control the flow of the fluid to one end of the cylinder or the other to provide the power assist. There should be a turnbuckle on that external linkage to adjust it. A good shop manual for your model tractor should have the details for that adjustment.

Sean in PA, thanks for your help again. I finally found the adjusting turnbuckle buried at the bottom of the front compartment. I heard too many stories as a kid of farmers having an arm torn off by a PTO, so I was nervous about the spinning hydraulic pump linkage. I tried making the adjustments with the engine off, but that turned out to be a mistake. If you turn the turnbuckle too far in the wrong direction, the wheels turn right, the turnbuckle mostly disappears under the radiator, and it's impossible to manually turn the wheels. I never did find a happy medium. Either the wheels try to turn left a little bit, or they turn completely right and can't be controlled manually at all. From what I read on [u:fc29bda759]another tractor forum[/u:fc29bda759], this seems to be a problem with this kind of steering mechanism.
