Howdy...have a small leak coming out of that small crossover tube, between the front and back halves of the subject carburetor..

Holley4180.jpg

It sits over a connecting bolt to the inlet manifold and has been jared a few times..which bent it some..All that keeps the gas in is a small O ring and the fit into the body. Not a tight fit between the sides, probably a 1/16" slop..but I think the small bend is enough that it just isn't seating correctly..

Have it pretty straight now and haven't put the carb back into the truck but not optimistic it will stop leaking..

My question is any advice..the O ring is in ok shape, but I was wondering about coating the outside, 1/4" from the ends (small bump flange on both ends which the O ring sits behind) with a gas resistant sealer..maybe like you'd put on threads..Understanding the risk for getting into the gas..

Thank You

Looks like a standard Holley List Number 1850, 600 CFM to me. There is supposed to be nothing but an o-ring on each end of the fuel transfer tube. You should lube the o-rings with something like Vaseline when assembling. If the tube has been bent you may very well have problems getting it to seal. At this point you don't have anything to lose in trying some sealer. There must have been millions of those carbs made and I would think you could find a good used tube for a couple of bucks.
