EAF6055D is for the 850 as well. Notice in the application that the "800" is listed. That is the series of tractor which your 850 is. Same for the 820, 840 etc. That is the one you want.Per the New Holland Parts site, B3NN6055B is for engines after sn 153009, 1958/61 which would include the 851.

| Sorry gave some info on the 172 diesel. Here's some corrected info from the New Holland Parts site:
B3NN6055B LINER Sleeve, Cylinder Block, Finished, Prior to S/N 151245, 172", Years: 01/01/1953-12/31/1961 EAF6055D LINER Sleeve, Cylinder Block, Semi-Finished, Prior to S/N 151245, 172", Years: 01/01/1955-12/31/1961 The difference between the two is one is finished and the other semi finished. I would assume one is honed and one not. They list only one pistion size for the 850. EAF6108F PISTON ASSY Piston, Pin & Retainer Set, Standard, 172" Gas & LPG, Start Year: 01/01/1955 At any rate, it seems you'll be ok with EAF6055D.
