hydraulic controls

My loader suddenly stopped going up. I think its the control valves. It's made by Metro. Attached is a picture. Anybody know how to properly open it up to check them? I can't find a diagram. Its on a 1964 Ford 3000.
 
That runs off a front mount pump driven by the crank shaft right???? If you answer yes you stand about a 90% chance the spline shaft /hub have striped out and the pump stops turning when you pull the control handle to make it work. BTDT and just fixed a problem like that on a 3000 ford

check to make sur ethe valve is getting oil from the pump / pump is turning like old said.

if pump turns, take the return to sump hose off and aim into a 5g bucket and start her up. if no oil.. pump issue.

if oil, then run a lever into position and see if the oil stops or keeps going.

if it stops but no lift.. are the cyls DA? could have a blown one bpassing.

easy to test by taking the drop line off the valve and pressurinzing the lift side... if oil blows out the drop side.. packing is blown. if both lift cylc are plumbed parallel.. only takes one to make it not lift.

any other loader functions working or not working?

I'm not sure where the pump is located. The hoses go in under the seat. The cylinder for the bucket tip works fine so I don't think its the pump.
 
The control valve is the last thing to suspect. Look elsewhere.

@ A colapsed suction hose, A striped drive shaft to the pump, etc.

Thanks, the cylinder that tips the bucket works fine so I don't think the pump is malfunctioning. If it is the controller, do you know how to disassemble this unit?

wap bucket tip & lift hoses & prove it is valve or not.
 
i'd bet on a bypassing cyl before a spool failure.. easy to test as I mentioned in my last post.

did you read all of it?

Yes, I did read it all. I just haven't had a chance to test the hydraulics yet but I will before I take anything apart.

Trying to finish fall plowing today!

Simple then since both have 2 hoses remove the 4 hoses one for one as in take the 2 forward hoses off from side to side and place them in the opposite sides then do the back ones the same way as in swap the lift control to the bucket and bucket to the lift control. If you loose the bucket but have the lift them it is the control and most are not rebuild-able. But if you still have the bucket control but not the lift then one or more of the cylinders is by-passing inside the cylinder
 
No not a genius but I have been working on stuff like this for 40 plus years and in that time you learn a few tricks

t least my first shot wasn't as wrong as a "broken front pump shaft" which he doesn't have. A GUESS is sometimes right, but an informed guess, even if late, stands a better chance of correct.
Just ask Dell.
