850 clutch pedal pivot

I noticed oil leaking onto the tail pipe on my 850 today. Upon examination, it is coming from where the clutch pedal pivots on the side of the transmission. The pin the pedal pivots on is loose and oil is dripping from it. How is that held in? I can move it in and out about 3/8 of an inch by hand. Before ripping it apart, I would like to have a clue what I'm up against. Thanks.

There is a large nut (15/16" IIRC) inside the transmission case that pulls the pivot pin up tight against the housing. You will need to remove the shifter and top cover to gain access to the nut. You may need to buy a cheap Chinese wrench at a pawn shop and heat & bend it in order to get at that nut.

Thanks for the tip. I was able to hold the nut with an adjustable wrench and turn the pin from the outside with ChannelLocks. It seems to be holding nicely.
