just lost the turbo on our 2005 international dump. ( looks like oil seal, then bearing went out in intake side..impellor shaft is hard to turn, vanes have cut intot he aluminum housing, and there is oil in the intake side..e tc.. all bad juju :) )

I'd some special unit with sensors..and dealer and our local rebuilder man says no kits... it's a 3400$ 'cost' part.

any ideas?

oh.. on top of all this.. our mechanic just put in his notice!

ARGH! last time this happend I was the mechanic for a couple weeks... double ARGH!

thanks

Sounder! I thought you changed jobs. It sounds like you are in the same type of predicament that you used to get into where you used to work.

Welcome to the world of variable geometry turbo's. My advice.... Pay the price now instead of paying when the used one craps out.

we have a couple others with variable vane turbo.. had never heard of them.. till you have to start hearing about them.. :)

You'll no doubt start hearing a lot more about
them... Vanes sticking open and creating a no
boost situation is their most common failiing.

yep.. BTDT.. already had the diesel specific OBDII tester out to diagnose a low boost situation on one of the powerstrokes.
