Ford 6600 Coolant

Hi all,
I have a quick, and perhaps stupid question: I just purchased a Ford 6600 to complement my 5000 around the farm. Very tight, very few hours. I've heard a lot about porous block/cavitation problems being the weakness of these machines and how regular coolant changes are the best preventative measure. Is there a specific coolant I should by or is any diesel rated coolant workable? Is there a specific coolant additive that works better than others to fight cavitation?

you need to buy a coolant additive from either the ford dealer or john deere or IH.. its for the radiator and its a coating that prevents cavitation.

Good news.. its cheap and a bottle of it will treat two radiators. So... once every 4 or 5 years.. flush it, and add new coolant, new antifreeze and the coolant treatment.

And your good. be it a john deere or ford or kabota or what ever..
 

Frequent changes without the additive would be worse. the important thing is to put the additive in then test it at least once a year with test strips that you get with the additive. That's the best preventive maint. for the cooling system.
