I have a old sickle bar mower and the PTO shaft is to long (should be cut) but it probable would be to short then for my Deer.

Do they sell hitch extenders for this purposes what do they look like? Do I have to make one?

(quoted from post at 19:29:56 10/15/12) a over run clutch will move it back about 5 inches

sotxbil - I think that your suggestion would effectively make the PTO shaft even longer. He said his shaft is already too long and that he's looking for something to move the mower farther out on the ends of the lift arms.

rodm1 - I know it' a bit pricey, but the only suggestion I can come up with is to buy another PTO shaft that's shorter and use the shorter shaft on the Ford and the longer one on the JD.

add on quick hitch style ends that hook to the ends of the lift arms
will gain you a few inches
google 'pat's easy hitch'
(you might need a longer toplink with them)

I don't think this is what you all are talking about but I'm thinking this will work for me.

Is your mower a tow behind that you're towing from the swinging drawbar? If so, that type of drawbar should move the mower farther back. If it's a 3 point hitch mounted mower then I don't think so.

This is the one that NoNewParts was talking about that should extend the 3 point by a few inches:

Correct,

Then the 3 point drawbar that you posted the link for should move the mower back by whatever the distance is between the hole in your swinging drawbar and the end of your 3 point arms.
