Dad was Brush hogging a pasture and suddenly lost forward movement. Gear selector moves normally. Had to turn disengagement nut to roll tractor onto trailer. I"m not much of a mechanic and closest shop with tools to work on the SOS is more tnan a hour and a half way. Any ideas on potentail cause and suggested fix? Help is greatly appreciated.

PTO working, Fluid level full, 3 point works, remote hydraulics raise and lower modifified dearborn dozer blade I use to plow snow.

If the PTO is working the input shaft/clutch splines are not stripped. However, the fact that the 3PH and remote hydraulics work has nothing to do with the transmission. They work off of a completely separate hydraulic system than the transmission. You need to check the fluid level in the transmission itself. There is a square head plug in the side of the transmission to check the fluid.

I have seen the pump line to the control valve array break and loose all function.

Probably the PTO would quit too though????

The main hydraulic tube broke in my 671 and, although the tractor wouldn"t move, the PTO shaft still turned when the engine was running.

Without oil pressure because of the broken tube, it was still the typical SOS condition where the PTO shaft always rotates - input shaft geared to front PTO shaft/clutchpak/rear PTO shaft and enough friction in the clutchpak to overcome any resistance by shaft bearings.

There would be a huge difference of possibilities here if the PTO is just coasting under no load. I'm assuming that this PTO is still driving his bush hog???????

The transmission has lever to allow the tractor to be towed, check and see if lever got struck and moved. this would cause tractor to have no power to differential

From the original post:

Had to turn disengagement nut to roll tractor onto trailer.

I take this to mean that after the problem started that the tractor wouldn't roll until he disengaged the traction disconnect.
