Ford 8340 ?????

Going to look at a 8340 with cab for sale. It has the 16spd trans and the owner says the tractor will not go into reverse or neutral. The owner thinks that the synchronizers are worn out. If I had to split it and replace the synchro's, what's a good estimate for this type of repair?

16 speed is SLE with electronic power shift it could be as simple as exterior elec. connections or solenoid.

Thanks for the reply. I plan to check out the 8340 on Friday.

Depending on the tractor build date, the F/R synchro alone could run either $1200 or $2800. And it is a long ways in and a long ways back out to replace one.
Planning on a maladjusted cable and learning you have a failed synchro could lead to buyer's remorse.

That's what I'm hearing about these tractors. Thanks for the info. 8)
