the pto hand lever is very hard to move(engage). i have to use my foot to put it in gear, however , it comes out of gear ok. mine has live pto. ( FORD JUBLIEE) appericate any ideas as to problem.

ct hanse........why does it surprize you to learn ya gotta clomp yer clod-hoppers on yer clutch pedal to engage yer NAA's PTO lever??? It is driven thru yer tranny shafts and the PTO gears are NOT SYNCRO-MESH ........shifty Dell

I wish I had one of those aftermarket live PTO kits on my Jubilee.
Mine's just stock, with the transmission driven PTO.
I have heard those units are hard to find in working order.

the 'live' ones are tranny driven too.. it's just that the live kit is a pinion clutch to stop forward motioin. pto opeeration is uncahnged from a regular naa...

Dell, I don't think that he's talking about the clutch at all. I think he's saying that the PTO lever itself is so hard to move when engaging the PTO that he can't move it with his hand and has to use the extra strength of his leg to get it to move. if it's not grinding when he's doing it, then the clutch shouldn't make any difference.

Hello Royse , I have one BRAND NEW FORD NAA LIVE PTO KIT still in the Ford Box if you want one bad enough . Used ones have brought a $1000 plus on Ebay but no has wanted to spend the money for a brand new one , go figure . Thanks Tony

ct hanse,
My jubilee lever is harder to move than the pto lever on my IH C. Don't have to use my foot to move it. I just apply steady pressure and it's slow to move. No idea why.

Thank you for the offer Tony, but I think at this point I'll live with it the way it is.
I bought a 960 with the two stage clutch so I have one with live PTO I can use when needed.

Yes they are, thanks for the clarification.
Guess I got in a bit of a hurry when I worded that. :)

Hello Royse , Just thought I would let you know about it . It is the only new kit I have seen it years and it has been the hardest piece I have had to sell in my life , I thought it sell right away because it was new . I sold every used kit and even incomplete kits as fast as I could find them . Thanks Tony

Tony, I'm not looking to buy your new kit, as I don't even have a tractor that it would fit in, but I'm just curious. You said that used ones sell for over $1000 on ebay. How much are you asking for the new kit that you're having such a hard time selling?

Mine got progresively harder to shift into gear. Eventually it wouldn't go in at all. I split the tractor and replaced the PTO shift collar. The spines were twisted, probably from 50+ years of bushhogging and banging into stuff. If you pull the PTO shaft and the spline on it is okay, it is likely your shift collar inside. I replaced the collar and can put mine in gear with light finger/hand pressure now.

The collar is sitting on top of the trans case and slides in the shift housing, the round housing at the bottom of the trans.
