1957 850 Oil Pressure Gauge

This may seem like a stupid question but here goes. My 850 didn't have the oil pressure gauge hooked up when I got it. I have a new gauge and am ready to install but I can't seem to find where it connects to the engine. Also, I wanted to change over to a spin on filter. I guess there has to be an adaptor that screws in where the bolt that holds the cartage filter. The screw on filter is female as well as the engine fitting. Thanks for your help.

The oil pressure port is nearly hidden behind the body of the hydraulic pump.

Yes, you will need an O-Ring or gasket and a changeover plate for the oil filter, such as this one on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oil-Filter-...pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2b68f25c I'm not endorsing this seller nor the filter shown here. This is an example.

look for a lil fitting or elbow, perhaps with a pinched off 1/8 cap line right there where lary spoke of.. in the hard to get at place behind the hydro pump ( not hard to get to once pump is off ).

The oil pressure tube connects to a 90* elbow behind the hyd pump as the others have mentioned. You will have to remove the pump to attach the tubing. The elbow must be pointed in a specific direction or the pump will hit it and not bolt down properly. I just learned this recently on a 640 I was working on.

I recently put a new tube on one of my tractors. The elbow should be oriented so that the end where you will be putting your tubing on is facing forward. It was no problem to get at it on mine. Of course you may find yourself looking at a plug instead of an elbow, but with the correct sized little combination wrenches you should still be able to get in there and remove the plug and install the elbow.

I just switched from a Vane Pump to a Piston Pump on my 1955 Ford 850, and had to add a 90 degree fitting to the oil pressue line in order to clear the piston pump. I have attached a few pictures.

Thanks Guys: Didn't get to work on that part this weekend. Got a new piston installed and all back togeather. No wonder I can't find the fitting.

Thanks for the information. Pictures are great for explaining where to look for something so well hid. I installed a new piston this weekend and didn't have a chance to install the oil gauge. It looks like it will be a lot easier with the pump removed.

If you are going to pull the pump, pick up new manifold O-rings first.

Thanks showcrop. I looked at it last night and it seems like it will be a lot easier if I pulled the pump. Will get the "O" rings. I'm learning as I go so I need all the help I can get. Never pulled the pump before.
