I dentify this tractor.

(quoted from post at 18:52:18 10/02/12) A friend of mine asked me if I would do this last night and then I forgot.
C229017
C101E
9C12B
Thanks

C229017 is a 1969 serial number.

C101E is part of a model number. The C at the beginning means that it's a 3000 series. The E at the end means that it's a Select-O-Speed transmission, but there's not enough numbers in between to make a full model number, but I'll guess that the digit just before the last E is missing and that it's either a 4 or a 5, indicating either single or dual speed independent PTO, as all S-O-S tractors had one or the other (or no PTO, which is very rare), so I'll go out on a limb and say that the "10" after the C is for a general purpose ag chassis and the second 1 is for a diesel engine, and the real model number is C1014E or C1015E.

9C12B means that it rolled off the assembly line on March 12, 1969 during the day shift.

Thank you Sean.
I still haven't learned how to make some sense out of those numbers.
The tractor in question stands on stilts about 8' off the ground.

Like this one? This was at Almelund. Stickers say 4000, but I noticed it has the single reduction rear end.
