Quit a while ago there whose talk about replacement filters not being available and some talked about developing a remote filter setup. Has anyone made a kit?

Use a fiter base from a 6000.Filter is a spin on type. Just have to
route the lines and mount base somewhere.I think I have all the
pieces if you are interested.Hard part is getting the ends off the
original steel lines that go into the mounting base and the top cover
where the lines went in on the early sos models. That I don't have.

I have pondered this before but have not yet done so.

It would be a rather simple matter to remove the internal filter from the return line, route the line outside the transmission through one of the welsh plugged openings to a remote filter, an oil cooler in front of the radiator and back to the sump through the fill port.

Remote filters are readily available from NAPA, J. C. Whitney, etc.

Rod,

I can't answer your question, but I was part of the discussion. Dave H in IA was kind enough to send me an old filter and I had planned to cut it open, clean it up and try to find a media that was very close to original spec., rehab it, put it back together. Unfortunately, it's still sitting in the work bench as other things alway come up. In this case, a 52' Chevy car I've been puttering on. :D

As I'm sure you are aware, the filter was discontinued for some time so there are tractors out there that have never had this type of SOS filter and many, many more with non-functioning filters that just bypass now.
