i usually try to read threads about battery quality/manufacturers. i need a new battery for my '79 3600. there is a f4 in there now. i suspect a 4dlt is what is called for, my ops manual just says 128 ah. is interstate still the one to look for? is tsc's version equal? any thoughts appreciated, thanks.

Now days there is like 3 companies that make batteries so it pretty much makes little to no difference as to where you buy a battery other then the warranty they have. Me I get most at Wal-Mart due to cost and warranty. I just get the biggest highest CCA battery that will fit and be done with it

i bought mine at O'reilly auto parts,, they ad matched rural king price at $134.99,, 4DLT

in my 7610s I have a non oe battery i had to get at napa one day in a pinched situation...and it's a hair tall.. so tall that when going thru ruts in the pasture I could tell it arced :) a tube folded in half and zip tied to teh bat cable is making it work :)

local auto parts can order in a 4dlt, will get that. looked at cables, one is a number 2, can't read the other. will look into 0 or 00.

does the 4dlt have both pos and neg terminals at one end of the battery, or one one each end? will make a difference on cable length.

(quoted from post at 15:02:36 09/22/12) awe.. that's what old tire inner tubes a for! hood insulation! :)
Ha Ha Ha... Been there, Done that...Oh wait I am still doing that! On my wife's 2N, I have a patch of old inner tube that is zip tied down and lays over the positive post and cable just to make sure nothing can contact it.
Great minds.........
Andrew

my 7610s is STILL that way. when i repalce the bat when it finally ages out..I'll get the correct one. last time i was just in a pinch and had to get what I could carry home ASAP.
