I have a front main seal leak on the 1955 172 ci gas engine. I've been told that there is a "front main seal kit" available to remidy the leak. I can't find one....is there such a thing? I've searched various tractor part websites including Steiner to no avail. Can you advies next steps to a part supplier or some remidy to my leak concern Thanks. Ed |

| I agree that the problem is likely to be the governor shaft, but another possibility is that what you heard about is actually a "speedy sleeve" that is used to slip over the pulley, to provide a new surface for the seal when too deep a groove has been worn into the pulley surface. |

| Don't forget the governer shaft seal!!! Half the time that is the culpret. So while you have the timing cover, replace both seals. Have never heard of a seal kit for that .The crankshaft seal is EAF 6700A and the governr shaft seal is EAF 18183A. Buy the way, I have never seen this governer shaft seal in a gasket kit,it always has to be purchased seperatly |

| | Fel-Pro may possibly have that as a "kit"...If not...Fel-Pro should have the "contents" listed / identified on the box for a FULL SET. You might then be able to get just the number you need and secure your needed seals / gaskets, etc. Try NAPA...and get an "old guy" to wait on you. I'm serious about the "old guy" comment!! Good luck Rick |
