Just sharing a difference I found today that people here probably
knew but I did not. The rocker or lift arms that come out of the
lift cover are heavier and thicker than those on an 801. The
4000 I am looking at is a 1964 and is not an industrial model. I
looked on a row crop 4000 and they are just as thick. Are these
lift covers interchangeable if I were to upgrade my 861?
Aside from the tin, are there any other differences? I looked in
the archives and could not find any other specific differences
other than tin and paint. I know it is not that important, but I
enjoy finding specifics.
Thanks. Jason

Hello Jason , Those heavy duty lift arms came out in mid year 1961 on the 801's , as did heavy duty axle shafts . The large bolt rear axle housings came out in late 1960 . From the mid year 1961 801 tractors until the 4000's ended in Dec. 1965 they are all the same and best ones to own , all of the updates to the tractors were done by then . Thanks Tony

Not 100percent positive, but I beleive there are no cylinder sleeves in thousand series at least the two or three that I have worked on.

If you are comparing a 4 cylinder 4000 all purpose tractor's rockshaft and arms to those of an 801 series they were built using identical parts. No difference.

Not true.

Early 8/9x0/1 upper lift arms were smaller in cross section than those used on 4 cylinder 4000 tractors.
