Was working with a heavy tractor rake on my gravel driveway today when suddenly no hydraulics on my 62 4000 (4cyl gas). Also noticed that the proof meter that runs off the pump is also not working..I pulled the allen plug on the pump and there is fluid in the pump but -0- pressure. Plug was out, tractor was running and the control arm was in the up position and no fluid was coming out of the plug hole... I know a bit about engines but the hydraulics are a mystery to me...any ideas? Im guessing its the pump drive due to no proof meter and no pressure?? |

| Unbolt the Hydraulic pump from the tractor , two bolts on the engine three bolts on the aluminum manifold , start the engine and see if the drive gear on the engine turns you may have broken the camshaft , if it turns the problem is in the pump which also could have broken the mainshaft as a worst case . Thanks Tony |

| Did as you suggested...Cam is fine..looks like it's the pump shaft/drive gear or both..pump gear just wobbles and rattles around in the housing...thanks for the info... |
