Hi, I am converting my '67 3400 to the new style (integral reservoir) ps pump and I need to make new lines. The pressure side of the new pump has what appears to be an npt threaded hole. I think it may be 3/8" although it doesn't seem to measure quite right. It is 18 threads per inch, as a 3/8 npt should be. Anybody know the size of this hole? Is it in fact npt? Where do I get a fitting to convert to a flare fitting? I will try my local napa but any thoughts would be appreciated. I am thinking that a 90 degree male 3/8" npt (if that is the size) to 3/8" male flare fitting would be nice if I can find it, but no luck online. I will post a photo of my situation later. Thanks in advance for any help. :?

Sounds good. The guys at Mechanic's Bliss are great for sure. I've used them for hoses in the past.

I too had good luck mating a freshly made 45deg flare up to the 37deg JIC fitting coming out of the PS pump.

Post pics -- I'm curious to see how the flex lines come out. Bending new lines to the cylinders is on my list for the 3400.

I have one of these brand new OEM that I haven't had a chance to install yet. Couldn't find one locally (the 9/16" is an odd size) so I ordered one from Messick's. It was around $30 before shipping.

While waiting for it to arrive I bent up a new line and the new flare seems to have seated pretty well on the old fitting.. no leaks.

If you can't find the fitting you need and you wind up thinking about getting an OEM one, I'll give you mine for what I paid for it before shipping. Bought it along with a bunch of other small items so I got my money's worth out of the shipping already. But I'm not sure I need the elbow anymore.

This is the fitting that comes out the bottom of the pump. I'm pretty sure that's the pressure side but I'm not near a tractor or a manual right now.

Thanks Greg! I think I'm all set though. I went to a hydraulic/mechanic supply shop today and the guy there set me up. I bought the elbow fitting. They are also making me some short flex lines for my ps cylinders and one short flex section for the ps pressure line. I will plumb the rest up with some hard line purchased at amazon. The hydraulic shop is called "Mechanic's Bliss". It's located at 15 Hermon St. in Worcester Massachusetts. Very helpful, knowledgeable guys. Great customer service. Can't say enough about the place. The guy was going to make up my custom hydraulic lines right there while I waited but I was on my lunch break so I will pick them up tomorrow. They match up seals also if you bring in an old one. The elbow fitting he sold me is JIC, which uses a 37 degree flare. The guy told me it will seal fine if I double flare my hard lines at 45 degrees, the guys in the shop do it all the time. The fitting on the back of the ps pump for the return is a 45 degree flare. I will post some pics once I have the lines plumbed up. I think it will be a pretty nice setup.

OK, found some info and figured might as well answer my own question for the benefit of anyone who might read this. The fitting in question is listed as pn 81803217 in the new holland catalog. According to another post on this forum which google led me to, the part is a 3/8" ORB at the pump end and 9/16" JIC at the end which connects to the tubing. ORB and JIC are explained on wikipedia. Standard hydraulic fittings. I am going to a local hydraulic shop tomorrow, pump in hand. I will post back with my results.
