| I believe souNduy is correct, in the D41 at the beginning of the model number being a 4000 SU (Special Utility), which was a 4000 with a lighter duty 3000 series front axle and steering system. Also, the part about the diesel engine and independent 540 rpm PTO is correct. The G at the end of the model number could actually be a C as he said, which would be a 8 speed transmission, but it could be a G as well, which would be the 4/4 manual reversing transmission, which was basically the same as the 6/4 manual reverser with the 2 extra forward gears taken out to make it a cheaper alternative for folks who were looking for the least expensive loader tractor they could get, and I've only ever heard of them actually being used on 3400, 4400 and 4000 SU models.
The tractor number C218275 is the serial number, and that's a late 1968 serial number. If you post the Unit Code number, we can tell you the exact date that it left the assembly line. |
