The 3 point would not stay up when the tractor was off so we got into the hydraulics. We cleaned the valve spools and replaced the pressure relief valve in the bottom of the case. When we took the check valve apart we did not find a steel ball or a glass ball (I heard sometimes it is glass) but a plastic ball. I don"t know if the previous owner did a quick fix or if Ford thought this is a good idea but the plastic ball is all scored and rough. We tried to clean it up. Back together it the 3 point will stay up if nothing is on it but the lightest load caused it to drift down.
My questions:
1. Anyone know where I can get a replacement steel ball?
2. Anyone know the correct diameter for this ball?
As always thanks for your formidable help.

The only steel ball that I can find for an NAA that's labelled as #26 in the New Holland parts site is on a different drawing, for the top cover, not for the lift cylinder. It doesn't list a part number, just PL "Procure Locally" and the description says "Ball, Steel, Except NAA, Start Year 1/1/1955", which to me means that it doesn't exsist on an NAA (Jubilee) at all, and only on the later hundred series.

Based on the diagrams I"ve found NAA part # 354069-S (page 5-12 Master Parts Catalog) or NH diagram #18 is the feed check valve for the lift cylinder. Am I wrong? What is the function for part # 353075-S (page 5-2 Master Parts Catalog) or NH diagram #26? Thanks

While we're on the subject, I'm having the same problem with bleeding down, and locating the ball for my 640 shown in the repair manual on the CNH parts pages.

I've looked at cover and hydraulic lift parts and still can't find it.

Bad thing is I just got new trifocals.

Finally found it, #26, procure locally, 15/32" steel ball.

Now, where to buy only one, not 100.

The blind hog finally found the acorn!

Sean, Thanks again!

Soundguy it is #18. I think this is the problem.

We will see tomorrow when I visit my NH dealer and buy one.

Have great evenings.

I can't give you a direct link because the parts lookup page uses session information in the URL, so if I give you my link, you'll get a message that your session is no longer valid. You can start at the main new Holland Agriculture products North American web page CLICK HERE. Then point your muse at, but don't click on, "Parts & Service near the top of the page, and then click on "SEARCH FOR PARTS" from the menu that pops up. Once you're at the parts lookup page, type in NAA as your model number and click the search button. Then click on "NAA 4 CYL AG TRACTOR ALL PURPOSE (1/53-12/54)", which should be at the bottom of the list. Then click on "Hydraulic Systems" and then click on "05B01 HYDRAULIC LIFT CYLINDER, SHAFT & RELATED PARTS, 53/54".

If it's the part labelled 18 in the parts diagram for the lift cylinder on the New Holland parts web site, then it's a 7/16" steel ball, part number 86520978. You should be able to get it at your New Holland dealer, or on line at messicks.com.
