I was using the old ford TLB Sunday and it made a pop sound. Then later a squeak followed by a groan and a bit later a pop.

So it was brought over to the shop door for a greasing. Then I thought about it and decided to inspect the lug nuts, rim to disc nuts and the pie weight bolts. They looked tight on the left, but the right was looking like fewer exposed threads on the rim to disc nuts.

Oh great, not much room to work with the pie weights on and taking them off didn't look like how I wanted to spend the morning! Luckily there was a combination of breaker bar, socket that would fit and have the ability to turn them (whew). The "loose" side needed 1/8 to 1/4 turn on most nuts. I felt pretty good as I thought the sounds were from that side. Then I decided to check the "tight" side. Ruh-roh. Those needed 1/2 to 1 full turn. AND the wheel made the same squeak / groan sounds as I was tightening them.

Since tightening them up, the odds sounds have ended. So, if you are hearing something odd or funny, don't just assume it's ok. Check it out, you'll be glad you did more often than not.

Oh, the pie weight bolts were tight.

Just went through that 2 weeks ago on the old industrial. Had an intermittent "thunk" in the front end, almost like a 4wd binding up. Was starting to worry about the front axle/drive assembly (it has the Elenco).

Dropped the bucket and raised the front end to relieve any pressure - nothing.

2 days later was definitely constant thunk with the axle/tire rotation. Put it in the shop and.... yup. Front lugs loose on the right side. Had that side off when replacing the tie-rod and had torqued back on. but never re-checked... probably the best news I could have hoped for, given the sound it was making! Could have been ugly with a bucket full of gravel...
