I have a 60" Howse that has a stuck nut on the one blade. Soaked it a couple times with sea foam. This thing will not budge! I'm thinking the next step is to heat the nut... or just remove the hub and cut the dang thing off. I guess my question is, with the blade being loose, I want to tighten it to eliminate the wobble. My thought is that it over time, it will widen that hole and I'll need a new hub. Is this a safety issue? Suggestions? Comments? Thanks in advance. Doug

I had one on my lawnmower this year same way. I never had one I could not get off but this one would not even move with an impact wrench. Went to the neighbors and borrowed his torch, put a little heat to it and it finally broke loose. I thought I was going to have to cut it off as well. Finally got it off and I replaced it with a new one.

torch it off and be done with it.

Definitely a safety issue.

Almost certainly the bolts need replacement.

Remove and replace. Use heat or other techniques if necessary.

Soak it with penetrating oil. PB Blaster or Kroil are my favorites.

Heat may also help.

My guess is that if it has been run while loose, the nut is not the only problem.

The shaft/bolt that it mounts to and the blade are probably already worn as well.

Hi Royse, I suspect you're right. Well, I've worked it hard that last few years, so I guess it earned the right to be a little tired. Thanks much for the info. Doug
