Question #1: My 641 has a different 6 digit number on the engine, transmission and differential. Are these #s supposed to match?Question #2 where does the oil pressure guage fitting go into the engine? My oil pressure guage appears to be plumbed into the hydraulic pump and gives a constant reading regardless of engine speed. Thanks Bill |

| Thanks..what I perceived to be a line coming out of the pump is actually the elbow from the oil pressure fitting.Looking at the pump in the Ford parts manual I see an indentation in the shape for the oil gauge line to come from behind the pump. It holds a reading of 60 on the gauge all of the time. This is really a tight engine.. compression is spot-on all cylinders, oil pressure is evidently good. Only 1530 hours on engine when I got the tractor (Hour meter still worked on proof meter) I was lucky I guess. Had to do a few things but not a whole overhaul like a lot of folks have to do. Thanks Bill |

| | 60 is way at the end of the oil relief full open range. i'd swap in another gauge to check. what oil you running? 40w? as long as a new gauge goes to 0 and you are running 10w30 to 20w50 or 30w or similar, and don't exceede 60 psi.. you are liekly fine.. if there is no knocking sound. |

| Running Rotella T 15w40. Gauge stays either at zero when engine is cut off or 60 when running. Motor sounds good.May be the gauge? Thanks Bill |

| Checked with a friend that is a first class machinist and has his own machine shop. He has done several Ford 4 cylinder engines like mine and said that in his opinion as long as I had 60 psi with 15-40 Rotella I was good to go. I don't know if engine has been rebuilt or not. He said from compression numbers and the general looks of things it more than likely has and that new oil pumps they sell now are set up like the old industrial engine pumps were for higher psi and it is not unusual for them to give 60-70 psi. He listened to the engine with a stethoscope and said that the bottom end sounded smooth. He said to use the machine and as long as the oil pressure comes up fast and stays up not to worry about it. |

| | at this point i'm marking your name and address down and will no longer field questions by you. you are ignoring a simple GOOD diagnostic test of swapping in another oil gauge to verify what you are seeing. ps.. your oil relief cracks at 55psi and should be full open at 60. you for sure COULD be making that. if it was me. I'd VERIFY it.. vs getting the opinion of someone. even a very smart someone. verified data beats opinion every time. have a good one. my last post on this. soundguy |

| SG: First off: I did not mean to offend you nor have I ever meant to. I was just trying to get answers to a question and although I got another opinion it was in no way intended to slight you or belittle your knowledge. I have enjoyed the tractor hobby, and intend to continue thusly.I engage in this hobby for relaxation and relief from the stress of a high pressure job. It is not my intent to hassle anyone or to be hassled. I apologize to the members of this forum if I have spoken improperly or acted in any way other than collegially and honorably. Thanks to all of you for all of your help with my project. Bill |

| Your oil pressure guage is plumbed into the engine block behind the hydraulic pump, there is an elbow coming out of the block,if you have constant oil pressure with no drop when it gets warm you are a lucky guy!The engine serial # is on the flat behind the starter, the other # are casting # and don't match the engine. |
