throttle handle spring bar ball

throttle handle on dash was stuck so i put some spray where i thought it would loosen it up. started to move so i forced it. snapped the little ball off the connector that connects the throttle rod to the spring bar to the govenor. does anyone know if that little ball unscrews and where i can get a new one. and or the entire connector that slips on the rod?? thanks. sorry but i know nothing about these things... but trying.

it is a 5 speed 800 series. just not sure what model. the hand throttle bar goes thru the dash at the bottom has a connector bolted on. that connector has a little ball, almost like a grease fitting. then a spring bar goes over that and connects to another little ball which is attached to the top of the governor assembly. the round thing that spins. i will try to get pictures over the weekend. the little ball is what i twisted off

part #2 maybee???

it's part number 2 in your chart. i broke off that little ball on it. any idea where i can get just part number 2 non diesel???

thanks....

well.. the chart I gave you had the part number in it:

86536248 ARM Arm Assy., Throttle Control Lever, Except Diesel, Start Year: 01/01/1953

i think I might call my dealer.. unless you wanna ask here maybee someone has one laying around.

not a real high attrition item.. I don't recall ever seeing one broke.

cnh probably walts a jillion bucks for it.. maybee not.. call em.

might call john smith as well.. he has all sorts of odds n ends. has helped me out of a bind a thousand times with parts. real honest guy. i posted a link for ya

in the event nobody has one.. get you a dowel rod and clean that piece up.. weld a piece of dowel rod on, then set patiently with a set of files and a dremel and make a new ball end. might take 20-30 minutes.. but will give ya time to think about not wrenching that one off :) :)

good luck

Go to a good auto parts store or napa, they will have throttle ball assorment with nuts on them. Or find your local stock car buddy cause they build own thottle linkage.

ah yes. our local one closed up a year ago but they moved about 50 minutes away. i'll call them to see what they might charge me. 'capital tractor. greenwich NY.

On the original factory piece the ball stud is swaged into the arm. If you disassemble the throttle mechanism and remove the entire arm (Part #2 in the diagram provided by soundguy) you can take it to an auto parts store and find a ball stud with the proper size ball that has a threaded post that is it's base. Then grind off what remains of the stud and drill a hole of the proper size to attach the new ball stud you just bought.
Here's a link to Holley's website to show you exactly what I'm talking about.
