6610 Injector pump oil

I changed the injector pump oil on my 6610 today. The oil had quite a bit of diesel in it.

Is this normal?

Generally its not a good sign you could possibly have scorned or worn out barrels or more than likely I believe there is either o-rings or some sort of copper washers I believe don't quote me on that as I've never torn one apart just watched a Diesel Tech pump rebuilder fix one. What I would do is change the oil again in the pump.If fuel comes back in the oil again sometimes the lift pump can send fuel in the oil to.So that might need replaced.

I'm not stating it was good but I did own a 3000 diesel for several yrs that I used to rake hay with a V rake. It had diesel in inj pump crankcase every time I changed the pump oil I ran it for several yrs before I sold it and it was running when it left.

Pump was rebuilt by shop and lift pump replaced 200 hours ago. I think I will just change the oil in the pump when I do the tractor. It was within the change interval.

You are right, you are supposed to change the (Simms) pump oil with each engine service.
Don't forget to clean the breather up on top of the pump.
The (hat) cover comes off and you wash the filter in solvent, clean, dry and re-install, good for another 10-20 years! LOL
