Saw this on Craigslist locally, I see you guys buying them for $900, $1200 etc back East, is this a Southwest thing? Thanks, MK

It"s pipe dreaming. I live outside of Albuquerque and you will see these prices all the time. Keep shopping. Try Tumbleweed Equipment Auction in Socorro. The next is March 9ht and 10th.

I see a SOS shifter below the steering wheel. Between the outrageous "asking" price and the SOS I bet he doesn't get a single call about it.

The SOS is quite something when adjusted and working properly I gather? But a PIA when not?

I'd like to see it someday.

I'm in upstate NY,If I could find that for a grand and every thing worked I take it in a heartbeat.Recently missed out on an 850 with a light duty backhoe and a hydraulic plow in the front.Good tires, ran good, everything worked. In the ad he said there was a crack by the hyd plow
ram and the bachkoe was a little jerkey.Called it "Butt Ugly" because it was a little "weathered".It was beautiful to me,guy was asking $1,100,trades,or best offer.Probably could've got for $800.Less than 12 miles from my house.Been 4 days and I'm still crying in my Cheerio's in the morning.

I think there is some truth to that statement that used tractors are more expensive out West. I"ve neeve sen TO- series Fergusons or some of the smaller Fords go for the prices that I"ve seen them go for in the eastern part of the country.

Generally I would agree that the prices are higher. However, that doesn't mean that they sell for the asking price.

There is an 8N for sale near our place,(CO), in average condition that they want $4500 for. It has been standing there with a "For Sale"sign for 4 years.

Speaking in general,..I feel that rust is almost non-existent here in Washington State, but quantity of tractors are nothing like that in my home state in Michigan. Therefore,..a tractor will cost more on the west coast due to possible better quality?

Maybe. But also possible that they cost more because the buyers have different expectations. 5 acre "farmers" look at things differently that 5000 acre or even 50 acre farmers!

I agree, but one also must look at the fact that the availability is not as great as say the Midwest if speaking of vintage tractors. I also must add that I think that farming is a breed that is dying in the West when it comes to the needs of a tractor. I could be wrong?

Area, area, area! Ask UD what the prices are in his area. I'm about 2 1/2 hours north west of him and you can add 500-1000 to that price. Here we have a lot of folks that own small acreage, anything from 10-60 for recreation. Lot of em love buying those old tractors and a bush hog to play with. An N sold about 2 months ago in Fergus Falls Mn with a loader and rear blade. I went and looked at it. The whole thing was rusty, front tire shot, rears were good. Loader was beat to death with many welds and none stock bends and the rear blade was colse to junk, engine was smoking......sold for 2500. Saw another at auction in Aug. They sold a very nice 1086 IH, cab AC and heat, hub duals, good rubber, nice paint....8,000, (normal price around here is 10-11K). The 8N was real ruff with rust, bent up tin and all four tires were about shot, no implements, 1850. But you can get a nice IH H or M for 1500 or less. Know of one for sale locally, H, with loader, decent paint, good rubber, live hydraulics, after market WF and 3 point, I can get it for 1500.
