851 Gas Tank

Grandpa's got a 62 or newer Ford 851. I'm looking for a new gas tank. The stock tank is longer than any replacement tank I"ve seen. It is appx 33 1/2 inches long, and just over twenty inches center to center bottom mounting brackets. It has a hole in the center bottom, a top hole for a sending unit, and a gas cap in the top middle. I haven't heard anybody say anything good about the tank sealers out there, and the guy that has fixed it before said it was the last time about ten years ago. I need help finding a new one.

Sounds like you do not know what you have. An 851 was built from 1058 to 1962 so it can not be newer because 62 was the last year of the 801 series tractors

Don't know of any exact replacements. There are several places you can by a "fits all tank" NAA up to 4000. Sounds like you don't care for tank sealers. Well I have not had a fix fail in 10 years on a dozen or so tanks (4 of my own)Using a product called POR 15. I think the secret to sealing a tank with sealer is to wire weld the mounting brackets on the bottom of the tanks, full length, so as to make sure the factory spot welds do not give. It's treaky business as the tanks are pretty thin.
