Hello folks my name is Gary Thompson.I'm going by GT65 since someone else has my name.About a month ago I traded an ATV(paid $2000. for it 2 years ago)for this 1959 tractor with loader and backhoe plus a slew of extra parts(nose, grille, hood, fenders, sherman combo tranny,2spool hydraulic valve, power steering pump, steel hydro lines....etc.)Tractor runs great and everything works.I am currently replacing seals, gaskets and O-rings because everything seems to leak a little too!I've been following you guys since I got my tractor.(Was always taught to keep quiet and listen for awhile first)There is an impressive array of knowledge and experience here, starting with Tony Jacobs and John Bud and Soundguy...etc.I would appreciate your opinons.I live in up-state NY around Binghamton and know my tractors'orig. colors were Red & Buff(Ithink the previously ownner was trying to copy John Budds' nice 4041).
Sorry so long winded, but it was my intro.

I'd say you made a great trade, Gary. Always liked the look of the industrials. Never have come across one around here though. Lots of good extra parts there, too.

Say, that one does look a LOT like mine! If you got all that for a $2000 ATV, you sure got a deal. Heck, I'd give you $2001 for it now... It looks like your cutting edge on the front bucket is broken. You should fix that before it harms the structure of the bucket. It's not too bad of a job, but cutting off the old edge will eat a lot of blades.

Here's an older snap of mine at play, er ... work.

You are correct that the colors should be red under buff. Some like to be accurate with paint colors, but IMHO, for a working machine it just has to protect and look decent. You'res seems to be all that. I've got a little experience fixing them up and if you have any Q's would be able to answer with what I know. Tony is the real expert, he's also relatively close to you should you need to get any HD parts. If you need someone to talk tractors with, Tony is as knowledgeable as they come. He taught me a lot.

I put wheel weights on mine this year and the digging and traction difference is dramatic. Much more stable too. If you get a chance at the 21.5" diameter Heavy Industrial wheel weights -- jump on them. After I posted, I noticed that the wheels on you machine are not the original 24" rims, but rather the 28" ag's. That opens your options on wheel weights up to the more common varieties.
