3 cyl 4000 brakes

broke the pull rod today trying to adjust the brakes on a neighbours 4000. Before I order parts I'd like to know can this be changed thru the rubber boot or is it a split the axle job.

It can be done without pulling the trumpet housing, but it will take patience and good needle nose pliers. And some good luck.

Where did it break at? If it is on the outside you could pretty easily weld it back together.
