851 Ford stalling problem

I have a 1957 851 Ford, propane burner. When I run the tiller the tractor will run for about 15 minutes then just stops like you turned the key off. If you let it set over night it fires right up the next day. Any suggestions?

I don't know a thing about propane engines except, they gotta have spark to the plugs to run.
Next time it shuts off on you immediately pull a plug wire and verify that you have a good bluish white spark that will jump at least 3/8".
This will help to determine whether your problem is fuel or spark. Then you can go from there.

irst thing to do is to pull a plug wire & look for a spark as soon as it dies & won't re-start. Chances are really good that you won't find said spark. Then the question is, why? Maybe heated up ignition switch contacts opening when they shouldn't? Check by jumpering around the switch (applying battery power directly to coil). Swap out condenser as no easy check for those. Coil isn't likely, so don't spend on it until everything else has been eliminated.

The ignition switches in these old fords are known to be problematic. I need to replace one of mine.

A tune up kit cured the problem.New rotor, cap, points condenser and set of plugs and it fired right up.

Poor spark can fool the best wrench out their,,, no need to guess at it, have a standard ignition spark tester for the next break down (about $10),,, it takes all the guess work out of it...
