Ford 3000 water pump blocked in by radiator.

I need to replace the water pump on my Ford 3000 but I just can"t see how to get the radiator out of the way. I"ve removed the nuts on the 2 bolts that hold the radiator in and I"ve removed the hoses. The radiator shroud is blocking removal and I can"t get to the screws to remove the shroud.

I have the 3 cyl gasoline engine.

What am I missing? I feel so stupid. It"s got to be something really simple I"m missing.

Thanks.

The hood is off but I've not removed the nose clip. (This is the first time I've worked on anything under the hood. Also, I'm not near the tractor at the moment.)

How does the nose clip come off? I assume that is the part on top and in front of the hood, yes?

Once the nose clip is off will the radiator just pull straight up?

Thanks.

i had my nose clip off when i worked onmy 3000 rad.. it requires hood center to be romoved to.. has dogleg bolts.. etc.

I usually remove the fan blade, and then cut two grooves in the fan shroud, bend it back out of the way and the front half on the water pump will come out. dont have to remove the radiator or back half of waterpump. you can bend the fan shroud back when you reinstall the new pump half. Only a small area needs to be folded back for the nose of the water pump to go through. use either a hack saw, sawsall or jigsaw.. stay away from water hoses and the radiator core. btdi.

Just did one yesterday, take the cowl[nose] off 4 bolts, remove screws from shroud, remove rad. then fan, and you are there. hope this helps Dave

There's only about 8 bolts to remove the whole nose and radiator. If you have exhaust through the hood you can just remove the front bolts on the right side hood and put a block on top of the battery to hold it up. Disconnect both radiator hoses and the air intake. As sotxbill says you need not remove the back half of the pump. Just bolt the new front half to it.

Finally got to look at it again this afternoon. It took about 10 minutes to remove the nose clip (or radiator shell as a manual called it). Then the rest was a snap.

I was either misinformed or misunderstood what a guy told me a while back. Knowing him I misunderstood.

Thanks a lot soundguy! I was totally off track before you gave me that information.
