Note the "booster" seat to give me a little more legroom plus the "booster" springs to help the seat hold me up. Never mind, you can't see the springs behind the rubber. :)

Oh, BTW, do I have the lower lift arms upside down? Something seems off about my safety chains.

Jeff

The only thing I see is that the chains may have to be extended to accomodate the taller tires, so the lift arms will go low enough for some implements.

I think you may be right. Those lift arms could really be a problem. Let me know where you are & I'll come pick it up to save you the heartbreak of trying to correct them.

Rather than add more links I was thinking of drilling another hole in the bracket a little lower to serve the same purpose, that way I don't have to worry about the lift arms getting closer to the tires.

Are those the original check chains,,, they work in a arch at the point you are at that's as close as they will come to the tire,,, go lower and the arms come in,,, go higher and they come in...

Raise to full lift (The real test) the chains should be extended to their full range and not cause the lower arms to buckle from the stress... not much anyways... I have tried to modify/swap/shorten/make longer,,, OEM style/length is perfect are replacements with the right connector links made for your Ford tractor,,, I have never been able to duplicate them to my liking.... If I have a issue I buy the correct set up and move on...

At full lift they have a bit of slack in them, maybe
a links worth. That's why I was thinking of drilling
the bracket a bit lower.

I seem to remember seeing some old brackets w/ two
pairs of holes in them....maybe the newer ones?

Jeff

Are you talking about drilling another hole in the bracket by the pto?
If so I wouldn't do it. They are weak and cheesey enough as they are without adding more holes.

Looks to me the bracket are on the wrong side,,, holes down so when the lift was all the way up it broke'em,,, Look at lonestarjeff pix and you can see the holes for the chaine are higher were they are spose to B

The 860 has a swinging drawbar bracket in place of the cheesy parenthetic :) brackets. I was thinking of drilling another pair of lower holes in it.

Just low enough to make the chains tight at full up but let the arms drop a little lower at the bottom range.
