I've got a 1967 3000 deisel with manual steering and boy is it hard to turn.I've rebuilt the front end and replaced the steering sector and it's still hard. My elbows are getting bad and I was talking to a guy that has a business and said he could sell me a add on unit with everything I needed for $495.00.Its the one where you don't have to change the sector out.Have any of ya'll used these? Are they any good and worth the money? Thanks.

post a link for us.. all we know about the 'unit' is the price so far.

as for hard steering.. did you repalce thrust bearings and spindle bushings?

its probably the turkish unit.. its ok, work well, but is power assist and not power steering.

meaning if you turn the wheel too fast, you can outrun the power assist and you still have some turning pressure. some true hydro steering units can be turned with one finger, but still can not be turned real fast. These units are not "one finger units but still turn easy.. especially if you have a loader on the tractor.

I can think of at least one system that would work but,I don't think you are gettng the whole story. You would be lucky to get something used, plus installation for that kind of money. As Sounder said, we need more information, especially on the unit he is planning on using

That price is cash and carry not installed. I don't know the brand but it is new not used. And it does look like it would be power assist.

My dad had a 65 4000 with PS. It got so hard to steer that it would pull the engine down. An old machanic told them to check the spindles. One of them was welded with rust. After the spindle was cleaned up you could steer the tractor with one finger.

I'm in the process of installing a Turkish unit on my diesel 3000 with a 730 loader. The brand is Anadolu, I bought it on ebay for 395 plus $70 for shipping. Don't know how well it works yet, but it seems well built. I have to re-route the loader return line, so haven't finished the install yet. Will post results when done.
