Select-O-Speed Transmission Filter - C0NN7B155A

It would appear that New Holland is not longer servicing part number C0NN7B155A. My local dealer has had it on back order for 3 months, when he called to find out when it would be here, he was informed it is no longer available.

I tried a couple of other dealers and they all give me a price and when I ask them to order it they respond it is no longer available.

Has anyone ever found an alternate supplier for this filter? CNH claims WIX supplied them, but so far I haven't been able to source it through them either.

Not good news as I know of no other source(s).

I have one on hand and would have bought a couple more if I had known that they planned to drop them.

If you really want one, or more, you might have them do a dealer search. You might get blessed to find one or more stocked in a dealership or dealerships somewhere.

What years of tractors would that part number be for? The parts manual for my '65-'74 3 cylinder models shows the original part number for the S-O-S filter as C5NN7B155A, which has been superseded by part number 309735. I just bought a 309735 a couple of months ago from my local CNH dealer. You might want to check if yours hasn't been superseded with a new part number.

With my dealer, if you just ask for a specific part number and it's no longer available, that's the answer you'll get. If you say "I need a S-O-S transmission filter for a 1973 3 cylinder 4000", then he'll look it up and say, "Well the original part number is C5NN7B155A, but it's been superseded by 309735, and I don't have one in stock. but I can order it for you and it'll be in next Tuesday, unless you want to pay extra for shipping and I can have it for you tomorrow."

The 58-64 internal filter is completely different from the post 64 externally accessable filter.

Shadetree,

Thanks for the information, I will try my local CNH dealer tomorrow. The New Holland website still shows C0NN7B155A as a good part number and does not list it as NLA, but I don't trust that. This part number would be for the 60'-64' Select-o-speed transmissions.

I just looked at Messick's as well and they show them shipping in 3-5 business days for $58.53 (probably have to add shipping to that). Here is a link to the Messick's site. You just have to follow the info. to get your tractor and specific parts. It is the same breakdown as the New Holland site.

As an aside, they are showing the start of this filter as 1/1/1960 and S/N 125738. I understand my tractor to be a 1960, but the S/N is 109308 and it has the filter in question.

You may find your CNH dealer is just not interested in supplying parts for the old Fords. They won't come out and say it, but their lack of effort can speak volumes sometimes.

Please post back and let us know how you make out with obtaining a new sos filter. I still need to pop the lid off my 871 to confirm if my '59 (s/n 82629) has a filter or not.

I remember reading information that Ford dealers in Canada had a program where they contacted sos owners to offer installing the filter on sos transmissions that came without the filter. I believe this was a free campaign promoted by Ford. After this was done the trans case was to be marked with a F below the serial number stamping. Anyone have a tractor with this marking + a pre 1960 unit with the filter installed? :?

Thanks,

Steve

Well,

From what I can tell, it may be as bad as advertised. Local dealer shows NLA, checked the list of dealers still showing on shelf. Called 5 dealers and nobody has them, two were sold out of the Eire, KS (spelling?) dealer yesterday, hope somebody here got them.

Local CNH parts guy is trying to cross with the local WIX dealer, I will let you know if he comes up with anything.

I would be interested in a used filter if somebody has one laying around (would pay shipping if reasonable). Looks like it may be time to get the hacksaw out and work with what we have. :D :D

Hello all,

Local parts guy called back with two WIX numbers, but said he wasn't having any luck. They don't show on the WIX website, but some of you better connected fellas may be able to do something with them.

At this time I have had multiple inquiries about the single filter we have on hand at work. It will be offered in the order the inquiries were recieved, and I will inform all who asked as to what is going on.
