What size is the hole for the freeze plugs, on this block, I wish to order the correct size this time for a "Freeze plug Heater" as the 1 1/2 (38mm) was to small, I am thinking its 1 11/16, possibly 1 3/4, not sure? thanx Dan

If you want to be certain, measure the bores. There's four sizes listed as possible for a 1971 block, and over the years I probably have used them all one time or another on late Thousand series blocks.

I knocked out the freeze plug & measured 1-11/16in, right in the middle of 5/8 & 3/4, so wasnt sure what size they were calling it........?

ok, but i was lucky enough to get 2 fingers on the plug itself, much less a caliper, even put the loader up in the air to get a better look,

It's likely 1-5/8"... but until you measure it with the caliper you won't know for sure. I guess plugs are cheap enough you can play the size game by buying one of each...
