Primer for current NH paint for late 1950s gray?

Want a pro to sandblast and prime the sheet metal for 1958 841. Ford. He askes: What primer should I use? I have rattle cans bought this year from NH of the Ford red , but suspect the spray or brush NH quarts are a slightly different chemistry. Please advise correct primer mix or name that can be purchased from NAPA or other commercial suppliers. Are the NH tractor paints acrylic or what? A big Howdy to old forum friends. Thanks. Mike

Use PPG or Dupont stuff. I think epoxy primer has it all over anything else. Hard as nails and is best choice on cast iron. Rattle cans work, but you get what you pay for. Preparation is key. Blast to bare metal. Wire brushing and rattle cans work, but for how many years do you want it to last?

Thanks Dan. We will use the quarts from Case-NH in the 39-62 (or is it 39-64) gray Ford paint probably with hardner. It is the gray not as dark as Fergy, nor as light as the gray with the blue of 65 and later. This is a work tractor, but want it done right with lots of stuff removed before painting.
